How to get Cavecrawler Wood (Blue Wood)
Take the ferry to the Tropics, then follow the Maze to the Cavecrawler Cavern.
Blue Wood is Cavecrawler Wood: the glowing blue trees deep under the Tropics. Its planks sell for $35 per unit at the Wood Dropoff, but a ferry ticket costs $400 each way and the black walls can block your route.

Pack before boarding
- A truck with room for thick logs. Large pieces are heavy enough to stop it climbing steep slopes.
- A Work Light, or headlights for the dark tunnels: press L on a keyboard, or tap the lights button on mobile.
- An axe: the Cave Axe specializes in Blue Wood, with 32.72 damage per second. The Bird Axe does 9.75; otherwise take a Rukiryaxe or Many Axe.
- At least $800 if you plan to take the ferry both ways.
From the dock to the trees
- Board the ferry at the Main Biome dock with your truck and buy a ticket.
- After reaching the Tropics, drive to the Maze entrance on the south side.
- Follow a route that matches the black walls in your server. The maze also leads to Fine Arts and a Safari exit; those are not the Cavecrawler Cavern.
- In the cavern, cut manageable pieces and leave enough room to turn the truck. If it stalls on a slope, reduce the load.
For help matching the walls, open the Cavecrawler Mapper. Compare it with the walls you can see before committing to a route.
If the run goes wrong
- A black wall blocks the path
- Try another route that matches your server. The wall pattern changes, so a fixed sequence from an old video can lead to a dead end. If every way into the cavern is blocked, save the trip for another pattern rather than forcing your truck through.
- The cavern has no trees
- These trees take about 5 hours 20 minutes to fully grow. A public server can have its stock cut down before you arrive; an empty cave does not mean you took the wrong entrance.
- The trunk will not fit the mill
- A Sawmax 01 can take many branches, but a Sawmax 02 is recommended for the thicker trunks. Cut oversized pieces smaller before feeding your sawmill.
Bringing it home
You can return on the ferry, paying another $400. There is also a Safari Exit Hole inside the Maze that teleports players, loose items and wood to the Safari Hole. That shortcut is for wood and loose items; do not plan on driving a truck through it.
Mill before selling: an unprocessed log pays only $5.1 per unit. Gold Wood pays $36 per plank unit and grows in the Swamp, so blue is not automatically the best cash run. Choose it for the glow, the building colour, or a trip whose ferry and maze costs you can afford.
The region map shows the Tropics and Safari in relation to your base. For a specialist on the Volcano rather than in this cavern, see the Fire Axe.
