Getting to the Swamp for Gold and Zombie Wood

Walk in from the Safari, or move the Rock Bridge to drive in from the Mountainside.

The Swamp lies between those two regions, north-west of the Main Biome. Both Gold Wood and Zombie Wood grow here. The Safari entrance is cheaper and safer on foot; the Mountainside entrance is the one that admits a truck.

Choose your entrance

Safari: leave the truck below

  1. Pay $100 to cross the bridge into the Safari.
  2. Bring a long plank, or use a large fallen tree as a ramp to the Safari Mountain Passage.
  3. Leave the truck at the bottom and follow the passage on foot into the Swamp.
  4. Bring large branches back to the truck, then cut them small enough to load.

This avoids the Volcano climb. You still need to carry wood down from the passage, so park close to its foot.

Mountainside: bring the truck in

  1. Buy dynamite for $220 at Bob’s Shack, across the bridge.
  2. Climb to the Volcano peak and descend the side facing the Safari to find the Rock Bridge.
  3. Place dynamite behind the middle of the rock, light it and move well away.
  4. Once the rock forms a crossing, drive over it and follow the Swamp Cavern into the Swamp.

The Volcano climb is hazardous. Carrying a costly Fire Axe adds a risk you do not need for these trees.

Gold or Zombie Wood?

Wood Dropoff prices per unit
WoodLogPlankHardness
Gold Wood$5.7$3611
Zombie Wood$4.4$305.4

For equal plank volumes, Gold pays 20% more. Zombie Wood is easier to cut and often spreads sideways; Gold trees have bare branches. Choose by the wood you can actually load, rather than by the price of one unit alone.

The Overgrown Axe is a specialist for both: 15.29 damage per second on Gold and 15.22 on Zombie. It is no longer sold. If you have neither it nor another rare axe, the Rukiryaxe is an obtainable general-purpose option.

Get out before the crossing disappears

The Rock Bridge crumbles after roughly 22 minutes. Keep the return trip in mind while cutting and loading. Exiting down the Safari passage is possible, but dropping a truck there can flip it. Do not assume the crossing will still be there after a long harvest.

Back at your base, use a sawmill before the Wood Dropoff: the log prices above are much lower than the plank prices. If the Swamp route is awkward, compare Frost Wood with Cavecrawler Wood; the latter adds a ferry trip and a changing maze.

The map puts both entrances in context. For a vehicle that fits your wood run, see the truck and trailer prices.
